The Sydney Conservatorium of Music has teamed up with Apple to offer Christmas shoppers at Apple's George Street store something different in the way of live music, every Thursday in November.

The Tecchler String Quartet, one of the finest student ensembles at Sydney's celebrated Conservatorium of classical music, will perform for shoppers on Thursday 3 and 10 November, at 5.30pm.

The quartet, which consists of Jonathan Mui and James Dong on violin, Carl Lee on viola and Christopher Mui on cello, has this year played in Switzerland, Norway and Brazil. They are students of Associate Professor Ole Böhn.

On Thursdays 17 and 24 November, the Orava Quartet will give lunchtime performances at the store. All four members of the Orava Quartet are recent alumni of The Con, three siblings, Daniel Kowalik and his sister, Sylvia Waples, on violin, Karol Kowalik on cello and their friend, Thomas Chawner, on viola.

Both the Tecchler and Orava Quartets are looking forward to the experience of bringing their exceptional musical skills to a new audience.
