In the media - Richard in the Top 5
1 December 2010
Recent Alumnus Richard Narroway has earned a Top Five finish in one of the world's most demanding competitions for cello.
The longstanding student of Susan Blake was one of the six performers from around the globe to make the final of the Beijing International Music Competition - an achievement that followed on from him winning The Burdick-Thorne Gold Medal at the Stulberg International String Competition in the USA.
The judges - members of the Juilliard School String Quartet - also awarded Richard the Bach prize for best solo performance of a Bach solo suite.
Richard is currently studying at the Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University, in the USA on a 4 year full music scholarship. During a recent return trip to Australia, he claimed the $10,000 Costa National Prize at the Geelong Advertiser Music Competition.
