SCM in the 2012 ABC Young Performers Awards

The SCM is well represented in Stage 3 of the 2012 ABC Young Performers Awards. In stage 3 players perform with a professional orchestra, making this part of the YPA so significant.
Fifteen-year-old violinist Anna Da Silva Chen of the Open Academy Rising Star's program, a student of Robin Wilson, has been chosen as one the three string players. Anna will play the Elgar Violin Concerto with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra on2 June at 7.30pm.
In the Other Instruments section, Som Howie, a clarinettist and student of Frank Celata, andeuphonium player and student of Scott Kinmont, Jonathon Ramsay, have also been selected and will be performing with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra on Saturday 23 June at 7pm. Som Howie will perform the Copland Clarinet Concerto and Jonathan Ramsay will perform the Linkola Euphonium Concerto. The concert will be broadcast list on ABC Classic FM at 7.30pm EST on Saturday 23 June.
Finally, three of the four the keyboard finalists are affiliated with the SCM and include two pianists from the SCM tertiary program. Tony Lee a student of Dr. Paul Rickard-Ford and Jeremy So a student of Alexandra Vinokurov. Tony will play Tchaikovsky Piano theConcerto No. 1 in Bb minor and Jeremy the Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3 in C both with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
Also a former CHS alumnus and student of Dr Paul Rickard Ford Young Kwon Choi will play the Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor.
