Leverhulme Visiting Professorship for Joss

11 January 2010

Professor Joss Bland-Hawthorn has been awarded the prestigious Leverhulme Visiting Professorship at Oxford University in 2010. This is on top of the Merton College Visiting Fellowship that was already conferred upon him in early 2009. He will deliver six lectures on astronomy and astrophysics during the first half of the year, with three lectures at Oxford University, and the other lectures at London, Cambridge and Edinburgh.

The Leverhulme Trust was established by William Hesketh Lever, a Victorian businessman and entrepreneur. The Trustees award a limited number of Visiting Professorships each year across a wide range of fields ``to enable outstandingly distinguished academics from overseas universities to spend some time at UK universities.''
