Thesis title: Exploring Processability and Second Language Acquisition Dynamics: A Longitudinal Study of English Language Development in Children of Indonesian International Students

Thesis abstract:

«p»This study explores the processability and dynamics of second language acquisition (SLA) in children of Indonesian international students learning English in an immersive environment. Adopting a longitudinal approach, it examines how these children develop their English language skills over time, considering factors such as cognitive processing constraints, linguistic exposure, and social interaction. Grounded in Processability Theory, the research investigates the sequential stages of grammatical development and the extent to which individual differences, including age, prior language knowledge, and socio-cultural adaptation, influence SLA trajectories. Data collection involves naturalistic observations, language proficiency assessments, and interviews with both children and parents to capture a comprehensive picture of their linguistic progress. The findings aim to contribute to SLA theory by offering empirical insights into the interplay between processability and acquisition dynamics, with implications for bilingual education and language policy in transnational contexts.«/p»
