Thesis title: Whole New Worlds: The Effect of Simulation Technology on Post-Digital Cinema and Entertainment
Supervisors: Bruce Isaacs, Alexander Howard
Thesis abstract:
«p»This thesis argues why the film industry must adopt simulation technology and practices to compete against growing home entertainment systems. Because of the increasing advances made in streaming services, VR entertainment, and AI-assisted software, it is becoming easier for consumers to replicate and even outperform the theater viewing experience. As such, both film and theater companies must seek to create a new and exciting film experience that audiences cannot replicate at home. The solution lies in going beyond 3D and IMAX by implementing simulation to further immerse audiences in the film. By understanding how and why simulation should be incorporated into theaters, this thesis acts as a lens into the possible future of cinema and film as a whole.«/p» «p» «/p»
