Thesis title: ...My just quarrel... : Saviourhood Justice and Unity in the Royal Image of King Henry VII

Thesis abstract:

«p»My thesis explores the identity and styles of representation of King Henry VII of England (b.1457 - d.1509), with particular emphasis on the place of Wales and Welsh culture within this representation. Henry VII was born and spent some of the formative years of his life in Wales, an experience which shaped the way he presented himself to the world, both before and after becoming king. My thesis will track Henry's modes of representation throughout his life, and will use sources of material history in particular to examine the ways in which his representation of himself shifted and transformed over time, and during specific phases of his life. Exploring Henry's expressions of identity and representative choices will contribute to a more nuanced understanding of one of England's most inscrutable monarchs.«/p»
