Thesis title: South Korean New Wave Cinema: multi-perspective minjunghwa film and '1029' film project

Thesis abstract:

«p»The construction of the Korean New Wave is the outcome of the industry’s desperation to survive along with Korean social structures, which made an effort to create an open society—a blending of ‘old and new’ – resulting from consistent interferences from other nations and clashing political systems. The southern part of the Korean peninsula (due to the nation's location) had no other choice but to overcome the threat and pressures from neighbouring and other countries. This small split nation established its hybrid culture as resistance against American cultural hegemony.«/p»
