Our research focuses on how inequalities—in relation to gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, and class—emerge and are reproduced in processes, outcomes and representations in society. We are interested in mapping, explaining and critiquing these inequalities for the broader research community and society at large.
Our research covers the experiences of women, LGBTQI peoples, and racialised communities, including First Nations peoples, migrants and migrant workers, and ethnic minorities. It is statistical, narrative, and incorporates policy analysis. Our methods take in qualitative and quantitative techniques across the full range, and include in-depth interviewing and ethnographic approaches. Our research has theoretical and real-world impact, yielding information that is used by governments, international organisations and civil society.
