You also have the option to start with the Graduate Diploma of Educational Studies (Leadership in Aboriginal Education) and later upgrade to the Master's program.

Do I need experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to study this course?

The degree is tailored for teachers with a lifelong commitment to social justice, equity, and culturally responsive approaches in curriculum, pedagogy, leadership and research. Prior experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is not required for admission.

Note: This course does not provide a recognised teaching qualification but is part of the broader postgraduate educational studies program, designed for leaders and future leaders of innovative and dynamic education.

Does this qualification provide entry into a PhD?

Short answer: Possibly.

If you complete a dissertation as part of your Master’s, you may be eligible for entry into a PhD program. You would need to find an academic supervisor and complete the application process. If you don’t meet the requirements, there’s an option to start in a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and potentially upgrade to a PhD after one year.
