Genetic Counselling

Admission requirements

In general, admission to the Graduate Diploma in and the Master of Genetic Counselling requires an undergraduate degree, a successful interview and a demonstrated aptitude for study in genetics or a related field.

Course structure

The Graduate Diploma in Genetic Counselling requires the successful completion of 48 credit points of Stage 1 units of study.

The Master of Genetic Counselling requires the successful completion of 96 credit points of units of study including:

  • 48 credit points of Stage 1 units of study; and
  • 48 credit points of Stage 2 units of study.

Pattern of enrolment

In order to fulfill the Human Genetics Society of Australasia requirements for Genetic Counselling Part I certification and entry into Part 2 of the professional certification for genetic counselling, the course must be undertaken in the following sequence. All units of study are compulsory unless otherwise noted.
