This scholarship was established from a gift from the Liu Shiming Art Foundation in 2023 to support the award of scholarships to students undertaking studies in visual arts at the University of Sydney.
1. Background
a. This scholarship was established from a gift from the Liu Shiming Art Foundation in 2023 to support the award of scholarships to students undertaking studies in visual arts at the University of Sydney.
2. Eligibility
a. The Scholarship is offered to undergraduate students studying visual arts in their final year of studies within the Sydney College of the Arts, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney in one the following degrees:
I. Bachelor of Visual Arts,
II. Bachelor of Visual Arts and Bachelor of Advanced Studies, or
III. Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours).
b. Applicant must be:
I. completing a studio unit of study; or
II. a core Honours unit of study; or
III. enrolled in a minimum of 18 credit points in their final semester.
3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.
b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the:
I. Director(s) of the Sydney College of the Arts, or their nominated delegates, and
II. at least two other Sydney College of the Arts academic staff members.
4. Value
a. The Scholarship is valued at $4,500.
b. The Scholarship value will be paid as a one-off payment after the applicable census date.
c. Deferral and suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted.
d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
e. No other amount is payable.
5. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
III. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application, and
IV. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
