Evelyn Ernestine Pritchard Andrews

Evelyn Ernestine Pritchard Andrews (later Murray) graduated Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1923.


Her early years

Evelyn Ernestine Pritchard Andrews was born in Newtown, Sydney in 1898, daughter of Albert E and Ada F (nee Rithard) Andrews.

Her student days at the University of Sydney

The degree of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture was conferred on Evelyn on 17 May 1923 by the Chancellor, Sir William Cullen.

Her career

Evelyn taught Science for some time in a State School and in 1924 married Jack Keith Murray, who had graduated BScAgr in 1914 and BA in 1915, from the University of Sydney.

Her husband became professor of agriculture, University of Queensland and principal of the Queensland Agricultural College at Gatton.

He was knighted in 1978 and died the following year.

Evelyn died in 1984.
