The Elite Athletes and Performers Scheme is for applicants who are able to demonstrate they are elite athletes or performers, and have had training, competitive and/or practice commitments which have significantly affected their results.

Application process

In addition to applying through UAC, you need to complete an application form and submit supporting documentation to prove your claims. For on-time applications the completed form and supporting papers will need to be submitted to the University Admissions Office by Friday 30 October. Late applications close 5pm, 27 November 2015. Further details can be found on the Application Form.

Applications forms will be available from the 6th of August 2015.

Notification of the result of your EAPS application

The University expects to be able to notify all EAPS applicants of the result of their application around the time of the release of the NSW HSC and ATAR. This notification will be sent to the email address recorded on your UAC application.

Approved EAPS applicants should note that the scheme's advantage cannot be combined with any other university admission scheme

How the Elite Athletes and Performers Scheme works

The University reserves a limited number of new student places for approved Elite Athlete and Performer Scheme applicants. These places are available in a band of ATAR scores running down to five ranks below the published ATAR cut-off. The maximum effective ATAR concession under the scheme is five.

Not all UAC courses are open under the scheme (see below) and in some cases, the number of EAPS places for a particular course is exhausted well before the maximum differential (five ATAR ranks) is reached.

An example of this from the Main Round of UAC offers January 2015 is:

Course ATAR Cut-off Elite Athlete/Performer Cut-off Difference
Combined Law 99.50 96.50 3.00
Physiotherapy 99.00 94.35 4.65

In the majority of courses, however, approved EAPS applicants can expect that the full five ATAR rank differential will apply.

Elite Athletes and Performers Scheme approved courses

All University of Sydney courses (51xxxx) available to UAC applicants for 2016 will have an allocation of EAPS places, except the following:

  • 511401 B Oral Health
  • 511796 B Computer Science & Technology (Advanced)
  • 511797 B Information Technology

  • 512042 B Science (Advanced Mathematics)*
  • 512085 B Psychology
  • 512099 B Science/ M Nutrition & Dietetics*
  • and ALL Double Degree Medicine courses

*Although these courses are not EAPS-approved, if you are within five ATAR points of the cut-off, the Faculty of Science will consider you for Flexible Entry.
