Multi Sensory Room (MSR)

Bubble Column

The Discipline's multi-sensory therapy (or Snoezelen) room was established in 2005 to provide an environment in which clients with limited communication skills can develop a range of early cognitive and communicative skills required for higher level language development. It features a range of switch activated equipment, toys, and environmental controls.

The MSR is used by undergraduate and masters students working with clients as part of their clinical practice training.

The MSR has also been the focus of a study by staff within the Discipline into the effectiveness of the multi-sensory environments in supporting the communication development of young children with lifelong disabilities.
