Biographical details

I am a registered medical practitioner in India and have obtained triple post-graduate degrees from the University of Sydney including a PhD. In addition, I am a Fellow of the European Committee for Sexual Medicine.

My doctoral research was first of its kind to examine the impacts of migration (acculturation) on sexuality and sexual health of Indian migrant men living in Australia. Read below to know more about my PhD and other research projects and publications. In a different capacity, I have a decade of Australian primary care experience in managing multiple health programs working with GP Divisions and Medicare Locals funded by the Australian Department of Health.

I currently works as a Clinical Services Specialist atNPSMedicineWiseand support Australian primary health care system by promoting quality use of medicines and diagnostics.

Research interests

My interests in regards to Sexual Health -

1. Researching on the topic of PLEASURE & SEXUAL HEALTH - a very important but highly neglected topic in relation to human (risky) sexual behaviours and sexual health in large.

2. Often CULTURE is mentioned as a dimension or determinant of human sexuality and sexual behaviours. My interest is in deconstructing the relationship between CULTURE and SEXUALITY and how this knowledge could be used to promote sexual health.

3. TRANSCULTURAL sexual health - how to support, guide and promote healthy sexuality and sexual health for immigrants.

4. Sexual health LITERACY - How to apply the principles of health literacy in the field of sexual health.
