Thesis abstract:
«p»Climate change is not just an external natural disaster, but interlinked processes of social-environmental relations. It is not just a technical challenge but also an adaptive challenge. In the past decade, the Chinese government has also realized the importance of climate change adaptation. However, the top-down nature-based or technology and engineering adaptation is not a permanent solution.Young people have demonstrated an increasing awareness, knowledge, and drive for action on the climate crisis, and are actively engaged in climate change action. Climate change adaptation cannot be separated from youth empowerment insofar as it involves youth participation. Therefore, the study theme is focused on empowerment in the participation of young people in climate change adaptation. This research selects a representative old industrial base city Changchun, China, which faces both physical climate and transition risks. The aim is to assess the status of youth participation, empowerment and impact in climate change adaptation practices at the city level in China and make multidimensional recommendations for sustainable youth participation in climate change adaptation actions. «/p»
