Mathematics course prerequisites

To apply for some courses, students are required to complete mathematics through their high school studies.

The University is introducing mathematics course prerequisites for some courses from 2019 to help students thrive in their science, technology, engineering and mathematics related degrees and prepare them to tackle future career challenges.

Meeting the requirement

The mathematics course prerequisite applies to students who are undertaking an Australian Year 12 qualification or the IB diploma or GCE A Level in Australia. Students need to achieve a Band 4 in the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) Mathematics (not Mathematics General) or similar result in equivalent interstate or IB or GCE A Level subjects to be eligible for admission to a range of courses, including economics, commerce, computing, engineering and IT, medicine, psychology, pharmacy, veterinary science and science.
