Services for Students

Services for Students provides students with a range of academic and personal support services, such as language and learning skills tuition, a confidential counselling service, a support service for international students and services for students with disabilities.


Learning Centre

The Learning Centre offers learning support including academic and language skills seminars, study skills programs, individual consultations and peer tutoring. The Centre offers services and information specifically for FHS students.

FHS students may also take advantage of courses offered at Camperdown Campus by the Learning Centre. You might also find this is a good way to meet other University of Sydney students.


Student Representative Council

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) represents all undergraduate students at the University of Sydney through campaigns on issues affecting students, such as fee increases, course cuts and the cost of readers. The SRC also has caseworkers and a solicitor who can provide you with confidential advice and advocacy for a range of issues including:

  • all academic issues
  • questions about Centrelink
  • problems with tenancy and accommodation and
  • a range of legal problems.

Cumberland has a caseworker on campus on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during semester. To make an appointment or to ask a question feel free to email help@src.usyd.edu.au or call 9660 5222.


SUPRA: Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association

Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association is the postgraduate student organisation at The University of Sydney and is run by postgrads for postgrads. SUPRA represents all postgraduates at Sydney University, and all postgraduates can look to SUPRA for assistance with any issues that may confront them - both academically and personally - during the course of their candidature.


IT Services

When you become a student at Sydney you will be given a UniKey account that will give you access to IT services around the university.

These services include free email, internet services both on and off campus, computer access labs and printing services.

Careers Centre

The University of Sydney [[Careers Centre assists current and recently graduated students in their search for employment both during and after the completion of their tertiary studies.

The Careers Centre offers one-to-one career counselling, industry information sessions and fairs, and a broad range of workshops which include ‘resume rescue’ and developing interview and job search skills.

The Careers Resource Centre contains information and tools to help student’s research career options, write applications, and find ways to increase their employability. Found in our new location on level 5, Jane Foss Russell Building, our expert staff can help you develop the skills you need to find a job you love.


Campus Rewards

Campus Rewards

Campus Rewards is the membership-based Cumberland campus student organisation providing a broad spectrum of resources and representation including food and beverages, sport and recreation, retail, academic support services, accommodation and social activities. Various membership discounts offered both on and off campus more than cover the subscription cost.


Financial Assistance

Types of financial assistance available to enrolled students include University of Sydney loan and bursary funds, scholarships, student association emergency loans, Centrelink allowances, and employment services.

Accommodation on Cumberland campus - Yannadah

Yannadah is the student residence at Cumberland campus. It contains 39 single study bedrooms for male and female students. There is also an on-site Residential Supervisor.

Shared facilities include bathroom, living areas, dining room and a coin operated laundry. All common areas are cleaned on a daily basis from Monday to Friday and bedrooms and linen are cleaned weekly. All personal washing can be done in the communal laundry facilities.

Indigenous Support

Yooroang Garang Indigenous Student Support Unit

Yooroang Garang is the centre of Indigenous student support at the Faculty of Health Sciences’ Cumberland Campus.

It provides academic tutorial support, academic advocacy, assistance with scholarship and cadetship applications and personal and cultural support for all Indigenous students studying.

Yooroang Garang has an Indigenous student common room, large computer laboratory, photocopying facilities and tutorial rooms for private study and group tutorials. There is also a resource library for postgraduate and Honours students.

The Koori Centre

The Koori Centre provides programs, services and facilities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying in all faculties and courses across the Uni.

For many Koori students who attend university it can be an exciting, but daunting experience. Many are the first in their family to enrol in a university course. The Koori Centre recognises this and provides access to educational and support facilities for all Indigenous students of the University.

The Centre welcomes Koori students to enrol in their courses with an Aboriginal perspective to feel a sense of familiarity and belonging.
