The group brings together work on the creation and management of public spaces, including urban design practice and public space analysis, with research on how everyday practices and habits shape the social life of these spaces, with an interest in the political and theoretical critique of urban space.
We research some of the most pressing challenges facing cities, such as critical reviews of urban design and place-making strategies; how Indigenous voices and agency can be embedded in urban development; new directions in public art practice; and examining the public-private arrangement and the master-planning process of specialist spaces in cities such as transport infrastructure, innovation precincts, university campuses; biodiversity and landscape planning and management for urban resilience.
