Professor Suresh Cuganesan will move into the new role having previously served as Associate Dean (Student Success and Mobility) at the University of Sydney Business School.
Among Professor Cuganesan's achievements as Associate Dean was leading the implementation of Job Smart Edge, an award-winning employability program for international students.
"I'm delighted to accept this position at a Business School which takes its commitment to future-oriented and responsible business and management education very seriously," Professor Cuganesan said.
"My aim is to ensure all our students graduate with the skills and experience to sustain meaningful employment and contribute to positive social and organisational change in an uncertain world."
A new role within the Business School, the Deputy Dean (Students and External Partnerships) will oversee matters relating to curriculum, future student recruitment and Business School programs, student life and success, alumni and engagement with industry, government and the community.
Professor Greg Whitwell, Dean of the Business School, praised Professor Cuganesan for his "characteristic energy, dedication and inclusiveness."
Suresh is passionate about ensuring the provision of high-quality education and student experiences and the transformative effects they can have on individuals and organisations.
Professor Cuganesan brings a wealth of both academic and industry expertise to the Deputy Dean role.
Coming to academia from the world of institutional banking and management consulting, his research specialties include strategy, organisational design and strategic financial management.
Before joining the Business School, he was Chief Executive Officer at the John Grill Centre for Project Leadership at the University of Sydney and Founding Director of the Centre for Enterprise Performance at Swinburne University.
