Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student community is provided with support to plan and build their careers.
The Careers Centre supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students by providing career guidance and support with employment. A Career Development Officer is available one day per week during semester at Old Teacher’s College for drop ins, or by appointment at the Careers Centre throughout the year. Appointments can be made online through Sydney CareerHub, by calling (02) 8627 8403 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org (please include your contact number and Student ID in your email).
Current students can also opt in through Sydney CareerHub to receive regular email alerts about new employment and cadetship opportunities, specifically identified for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and recent graduates.
Numerous employers in government and industry offer graduate roles, internships and other opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Students can access advertised identified positions (including internships and graduate positions) through Sydney CareerHub.
Many of these employers will also be on campus for employer information sessions and careers fairs throughout the year and will be keen to meet you. You can find out which exhibitors at our careers fairs have additional opportunities by visiting their websites. Other resources include government programs such as the Australian Government’s Indigenous Careers website, as well as private sector employers across all industries.
