Following on from his Eureka Prize win, Professor Salah Sukkarieh’s outstanding work in field robotics has now seen him named as a Game Changer in this year’s True Leaders list.
Congratulations to Professor Salah Sukkarieh on the recognition he received as a Game Changer in the Australian Financial Review’s 2017 True Leaders list.
Professor Sukkarieh was one of six individuals from business, public policy, social entrepreneurship and thought leadership celebrated for leading big change in their respective fields.
“I research and develop outdoor robotic systems and automation technologies that can be used to support local industry and have focused on how these technologies can be used to support mining, aerospace, environment management and agriculture,” Professor Sukkarieh said.
“In particular, for agriculture what I hope is that the research we deliver will ensure a sustainable industry in Australia, by creating on-farm robotic technologies that minimise chemical use, ensure high quality and efficient food production, and keep our farmers farming.”
In making the announcement, the judges’ comments stipulated that Professor Sukkarieh “…is really passionate about educating people in the developing world about the technology and how they can do better.”
The acknowledgement follows the award of the 2017 CSIRO Eureka Prize for Leadership in Innovation and Science Professor Sukkarieh received at the recent Eureka awards.
