NSW Chief Health Officer visits Westmead
The New South Wales Biocontainment Centre (NBC) is a new service to enhance state-wide preparedness to effectively respond to future pandemics and manage patients (adult and paediatric) with high-consequence infectious diseases (HCID).

Located in the newly finished Central Acute Services Building (CASB) at Westmead Hospital, the Centre will be used for containment and clinical management of patients suspected of, and confirmed with, a high consequence infectious disease and other associated events.

NSW Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerry Chant, recently toured the new facilities to observe a personal protective equipment doffing exercise where staff demonstrated best practice infection prevention and disease control.
