Celebrating exceptional students at 2024 Prize Giving Ceremony
The Dean and Head of School, Professor Simon Bronitt, acknowledged the extraordinary accomplishments of our students, recognised the invaluable support of members of the community and legal profession, and reflected upon the Law School journey.
"We celebrate our prize winners tonight. As you know, #InspiringLegalMinds, I do feel that's what you are, and what we as academics try to do."

Professor Bronitt also expressed the Law School’s gratitude for the incredible generations of prize and scholarship donors, which has supported and uplifted innumerable students over the years.

The prestigious University Medal in Law was jointly awarded to two students, Lachlan Muir and Patrick Ryan, who each delivered their own heartfelt and inspiring student address.
Lachlan Pickering was recognised as the top ranked student in the Juris Doctor cohort.
Students received a special address from Justice Chrissa Loukas-Karlsson, Justice of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory who spoke on success, failure, and provided words of advice.
“It’s just important that in that quest for the best in ourselves that we reflect daily about who we have been, both as a human being and a lawyer.”
The winner of the Sydney Law School Award for Teaching Excellence (Early Career), Adam Waldman, was also acknowledged and celebrated in the ceremony.
The Master of Ceremonies for the evening Professor Penelope Crossley, Director of Alumni Engagement, talked about the alumni program of Sydney Law School and the breadth of students that come from the Law School.
“One of the most wonderful things about the Law School is no matter where we go in the world, you have an instant connection with these people.”
