Sydney School of Health Sciences
If you are a health sciences graduate and intend to work outside Australia, you may need to register with the relevant overseas registration body or agency in the country, state or province in which you wish to work.
Applying for Overseas Registration
Contact the relevant overseas registration body you wish to become registered in to find out the eligibility criteria, their application process and fees.
Gather and complete relevant overseas registration body or agency forms and supporting documents.
Complete the University of Sydney’s Overseas Registration Application and submit the application with attached valid identification and proof of payment to shs.overseasregistration@sydney.edu.au
ATTENTION: Occupational Therapy Applicants
Please contact us to request an OT specific Clinical Education Placements Summary form. If you complete anything other than the OT specific form, you will be asked to complete the correct form which will result in delays to your application being processed.
Upon receipt of your overseas registration application, overseas registration body or agency-specific forms and proof of payment, the application process will begin.
It may take 8 weeks (or longer) to complete as multiple areas of the University are involved in the preparation, collection, collation and verification of documents for overseas registration.
Once completed, the verified and signed documents are stamped and packaged for mailing directly to the overseas registration body or agency (unless otherwise instructed) from the University. Applicants will receive an electronic copy of the overseas registration package for their records.

Sydney Nursing School
**Please note: due to staff leave, no applications for overseas registration documentation will be processed by Sydney Nursing School until February 2025**
If you are a Nursing, or Nutrition and Dietetics graduate and intend to work outside Australia, you may need to register with the relevant overseas registration body or agency in the country, state or province in which you wish to work.
This process can take some time. You should first contact the relevant overseas registration body you wish to become registered in to find out the eligibility criteria, their application process and fees.
The overseas registration body will usually require official documentation from the University of Sydney including your academic transcript, documentation of your theoretical and clinical placement hours, and the course syllabus. When you are clear about the requirements, please follow the below steps:
· Download and complete the relevant sections of the overseas registration body or agency’s forms. · Pay the Sydney Nursing School $200 overseas registration application fee via Onestop secure payment.
· Send your overseas registration body or agency forms and the application fee receipt to: nursing.educationsupport@sydney.edu.au
Following receipt of your forms and fee, applications will usually take about 6 weeks to be processed by Sydney Nursing School.
Once all documents are compiled, the School will courier the verified and signed documents to the overseas registration body or agency - unless otherwise instructed. In some cases the documents are transferred electronically to the registering body or agency. Applicants will receive an electronic copy of all documents for their records.
If you have not been notified within 6 weeks of providing your documentation that your application has been processed, please contact: nursing.educationsupport@sydney.edu.au to check on the status of your application.
Sydney Medical School
If you are a medicine graduate and intend to work outside Australia, you may need to register with the relevant overseas registration body or agency in the country, state or province in which you wish to work.
This process can take some time. You should first contact the relevant overseas registration body you wish to become registered in to find out the eligibility criteria, their application process and fees.
The overseas registration body will usually require official documentation from the University of Sydney, for example, your academic transcript, documentation of your clinical placements, a letter of good standing and the course curriculum. When you are clear about the requirements, please email sms.education-support@sydney.edu.au with the details of the documentation you are requesting and how you would like it sent to you or the registration body (e.g. via email or post).
It may take a number of weeks to collate the information from the Education Support team, your Clinical School and relevant Student Services teams. Therefore, please leave plenty of time for your request to be processed.
