HEalth literacy in Low back Pain – the HELP! media intervention study

The HELP study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of distributing and broadcasting a media-led intervention on low back pain (LBP) management in primary care.

The HELP study explores a creative approach to enhance public awareness of LBP management while assessing beliefs and attitudes about LBP.

The Principal Investigator of the study is Professor Manuela Ferreira - Professor of Musculoskeletal Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health, Sydney Musculoskeletal Health, The Kolling Institute, School of Health Sciences, The University of Sydney.

Eligibility

We would like to better understand the beliefs and attitudes of people toward LBP management, and whether we can change them. 

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • You are attending one of our partner GP practices for a consultation for any reason (not just for low back pain).
  • You are over the age of 18.
  • You have an adequate understanding of spoken and written English as you will be asked to complete 3-4 short surveys.
  • Have access to a smartphone to complete the online survey.
