This free event is an opportunity for people in the vision impairment community to learn about the latest developments in treating macular disease.
Last 27th May 2024, Save Sight Institute's leading macula researchers shared recent updates on macula disease treatments and therapies.
The agenda was as follows:
- Professor Mark Gillies, Head of the Macular Research Group: The first proven treatment for MacTel
- Professor Matthew Simunovic, Head of the Retinal Disease and Rescue Group: Surgical delivery of therapy to the macula
- Dr Yohei Hashimoto: The Fight Retinal Blindness! Registry of outcomes of treatments for macular disease
- Dr Shaoxue Zeng: Using tiny fat droplets to deliver gene therapy that combats oxidative stress in retinal diseases
