Associate Professor Katrina Bosward

Research Passion: Following the completion of a BSc(Vet) in 1990 and BVSc in 1991 at the University of Sydney, Katrina worked in mixed and small animal veterinary practice. Katrina returned to the University of Sydney in 1995 to undertake a PhD in collaboration with CSIRO, Animal Production entitled "Eosinophils and Interleukin 5 in Sheep". On completion of her PhD, Katrina commenced training in Clinical and Anatomical Veterinary Pathology and Microbiology at the University Veterinary Centre, Camden earning a Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Clinical Studies.

Since 2002, Katrina has been an academic staff member at the Sydney School of Veterinary Science, University of Sydney where she has taught in various veterinary pathobiology and public health units of study in the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and more recently the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Her overarching teaching and research focus is in the pathogenesis and control of infectious disease of animals especially those considered zoonotic diseases. Katrina has a particular interest in Coxiella burnetii, and coxiellosis in animals and Q fever in humans.

Katrina's overarching research interest is in the pathogenesis and control of infectious diseases of animals especially those considered zoonotic. She has a particular interest in Coxiella burnetii, coxiellosis in animals and Q fever in humans. Other research projects have been in mastitis in dairy cattle (particularly due to Mycoplasma spp. and Streptococcus agalactiae) and antimicrobial resistance in animals.
