Dr Rodrigo Hernandez Ramirez

Rodrigo Hernandez Ramirez is a design researcher focusing on the intersection of philosophy of technology and HCI. Particularly on Design methods and practices, Design Ethics and privacy, Digital Aesthetics, and how emergent technologies are reshaping our understanding of the world and ourselves. Previously, he was head of Design at IADE, one of the oldest schools of design in Portugal, where he also directed the MA in Interaction Design, the BA in Design, and the MA in Product Design.

• Human-Computer Interaction (with a focus on the ethical, social, and cultural implications of emerging technologies and automation, particularly AI)
• Interaction design (with a focus on aesthetics of interaction)
• Design methods and Philosophy of design (with a focus on interdisciplinarity, design education, design as a distinct epistemic field, and the social impact of design)
• Design Fiction (with a focus on how narrative and prototyping can be used to investigate how people adopt, discard, and reappropriate emerging technologies)

Rodrigo currently teaches experience design in the MIDEA program. He supervises PhD candidates, and Masters capstone students.
