His research philosophy is based on "contextualizing theories," into different institutional contexts to critically evaluate and enrich existing theories to enhance their applications. His research demonstrates that firm strategy is a context dependent phenomenon and the consequences of firm strategy on different stakeholders needs to be understood within the institutional context.

His focus on the global strategy of emerging market firms examines the role of institutional and organizational context of home country which shapes the motivation and strategy of international expansion of these firms. In particular, he examines the role of subnational institutional factors and organizational networks in explaining the global strategy of emerging market firms.

His research on corporate strategy focuses on the determinants and consequences of corporate diversification of firms entering different industries. He examines the benefits and costs firms derive through corporate diversification and its impact on various stakeholders.
