Dr Julian Prester

Dr Julian Prester is a Lecturer in the Discipline of Business Information Systems. He joined the University of Sydney in February 2022. He completed his Ph.D. as a Scientia Scholar in Information Systems at the University of New South Wales. Julian holds a MS in Management Information Systems and a BS in Business Informatics from the University of Regensburg.

Julian's expertise and research interests lie at the intersection of technology, work and organisations, focusing on various forms of Digital Work. Using ethnographic and in-depth qualitative field research methods combined with process theoretical approaches he explores digital work phenomena such as Digital Nomadism and Knowledge Work on Digital Platforms. Julian's research has been published in international journals such as The Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Information Technology, Decision Support Systems and Information & Management as well as the proceedings of leading IS conferences such as the European Conference on Information Systems and the International Conference on Information Systems.

Julian has made significant contributions to the Information Systems and wider business community through professional service and leadership roles. He is the Managing Editor of the Journal of the Association for Information Systems. He has won several awards for his work as an editor at major conferences like ICIS and ECIS. Julian is also developing innovative tools for the community, such as CoLRev and callsforpapers.org.
