Information for current Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students at the University of Sydney

The Current Students section of the Graduate Research Hub covers everything you need to know to progress confidently through your HDR studies - from settling in to submitting your thesis.

Understand your progress requirements, manage your candidature, access any funding you’re eligible for and find all the support and resources you need along the way – so you can focus on conducting impactful research that contributes to the common good.

Terminology: As you explore this website, it’s useful to know that HDR, graduate research and postgraduate research are interchangeable terms that refer to student’s research being undertaken as part of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), a Master’s by Research or a Master of Philosophy course.
