Gadigal Program

Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to gain entry to the University on a reduced ATAR. This program offers academic support before and during your studies, the ability to apply for an early offer and an exchange scholarship.

Benefits

This program will give you access to the following:

  • Entry on a reduced ATAR.
  • Ability to apply for an early conditional offer (receive an offer to study at Sydney before you sit your Year 12 exams).
  • An academic skills program before commencing University.
  • Ongoing academic and personal support throughout your degree.
  • Up to $5000 global mobility award for eligible exchange programs. 

Eligibility

This pathway is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students for undergraduate and postgraduate study. Year 12 students and post-high school students are invited to apply.

How to apply

The following information is for undergraduate applicants.

Postgraduate applicants should apply for admission to their preferred course and email your confirmation of Aboriginal identity documents and student identification number (if known) to indigenous.recruitment@sydney.edu.au.

1. Apply through UAC

2. Complete the Gadigal Program application

  • When applying, ensure you self-identify as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student.
  • Put an eligible degree as one of your UAC preferences, if you meet the eligibility criteria, you will get a Gadigal Program alert on the UAC home page.
  • Complete the additional Gadigal Program application form in UAC.

Important dates

  • Applications open on 3 April 2024
  • Early conditional offer applications close on 9 August 2024
  • UAC December Round 2* applications close on 7 November 2024
  • Gadigal Program applications close on 1 December 2024
  • Late round Gadigal Program applications close on 16 January 2025

* December Round 2 is the main UAC offer round where most offers for Semester 1 are made.
