Navchaa is an interdisciplinary scholar working at the interface of the social and environmental sciences, focusing on climate change adaptation and environmental change within the agricultural sector. She has diverse expertise in geography, environmental management, and water resources management, having completed a BSc and a MSc) in Geography at the Mongolian National University of Education (MNUE). She also earned an MSc in Environmental Sciences from the IHE Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands and a PhD in Geography from Macquarie University. Her work effectively integrates human vulnerability with environmental science, drawing valuable insights from her collaborations with pastoral communities.
Navchaa's research interests focus on dryland ecosystems and the impacts of climate change on pastoral ecosystems, as well as the adaptation and resilience of rural communities. She is currently focusing on two main research topics. The first topic involves incentivizing and investing in climate adaptation and the adoption of sustainable basin management practices, particularly in the Murray-Darling Basin in Australia. The second topic addresses research on climate change-related loss and damage, specifically concerning pastoral communities in Mongolia.
