Dr Ayesha Wijayalath

Ayesha is a Lecturer at Sydney Law School, teaching jurisprudence and public law. She received her PhD from University of New South Wales for her research titled 'Constituent Power on a Spectrum: Sovereignty and Constitutional Amendment in Sri Lanka.' Her research interests include examining the interplay of sovereignty, constituent power, and constitutional change, with a particular focus on sites of resistance in South Asia.

Before her PhD, Ayesha worked as a Research Associate at the Centre for Asian Legal Studies, National University of Singapore and as a Consultant for the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law. In Sri Lanka, she served as junior counsel, appearing in writ applications and fundamental rights matters.
