Grant has two decades of experience as a solicitor. He worked at Phillps Fox Lawyers, which evolved and grew to become part of the international law firm DLA Piper. Grant was the co-managing partner of the Sydney Australian Government team when he left to undertake his PhD thesis in administrative law. Grant’s thesis was titled Parliament v The High Court? Natural justice, codification and the Australian Migration Act. Grant taught at the University of New South Wales, Macquarie University and Western Sydney University before joining the University of Sydney Law School.
