Dr Louise Cauchi
Dr Louise Cauchi is an Education-Focused Lecturer at the University of Sydney Law School with over ten years of dedicated service as a sessional academic and examiner. Her teaching portfolio spans a comprehensive array of courses within the Law School Professional Law Programs (LLB/JD) and Postgraduate Coursework Programs, including Legal Research, Civil and Criminal Procedure, Criminal Law, Torts, and Legal Reasoning and the Common Law System. Louise’s teaching philosophy emphasises creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that fosters student engagement and a personalised learning experience. With a seven-year background as a lawyer specialising in medical negligence, she brings practical insights into her teaching. She holds a PhD in Law from the University of Sydney, where her thesis explored the intersection of cosmetic surgery and the law of negligence. Louise's ongoing pursuit of educational scholarship, currently through the Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Higher Education), reinforces her commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in pedagogical practices, ensuring that her teaching remains at the forefront of educational excellence. Louise is a member of the Law School’s Education Committee and actively contributes to strategic initiatives including leading curriculum and assessment development, and educational reform. Prior to becoming a lawyer and academic, Louise was a professional ballet dancer with London City Ballet based at Sadler’s Wells Theatre. She performed in numerous productions including ‘Swan Lake’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, and Russia, was a competitor in the International Ballet Genée Awards at the London Palladium Theatre and recipient of a full scholarship for her graduate training with the Hamburg State Ballet School. |
