Supervisors: Nicola Newton, Lauren Gardner
Thesis abstract:
«p»Young Australians are disproportionately impacted by vaping and its related harms, with the highest rates of e-cigarette use being among 18-24-year-olds, followed by 25-30-year-olds; two cohorts that missed out on formal vaping education in school. The third highest rates of vaping are among 14-17-year-olds whom are currently receiving vaping education as part of the health curriculum. Beyond formal education, public health campaigns are increasingly being used to raise awareness about vaping-related harms and prevent the uptake and harmful use of vaping. However, little is known about their reach and effectiveness among these key cohorts. This project aims to examine the current landscape of youth vaping in Australia; explore the key sources of vaping health information, and examine how these sources relate to their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours. These learnings will be used to «br /» develop guiding resources for policy makers to inform the future of e-cigarette prevention and education strategies for young Australians.«/p»
