Thesis abstract:
«p»Melanoma is prevalent in Australia and is often treated with immunotherapy. This treatment indirectly targets cancerous cells by enhancing the natural capacity of the immune system to control tumour growth. Interestingly, the immune cells which are acted upon by most immunotherapies are upregulated during an acute bout of exercise. Additionally, exercise may contribute to a tumour microenvironment which is more conducive to immune cell function through enhanced vascularisation and perfusion. Combining immunotherapy and exercise in the form of intra-infusion aerobic exercise may optimise the benefits of the two therapies, potentially improving the effectiveness of treatment in relation to tumour growth and cancer outcomes. «/p»
