Thesis title: Inherited retinal disease - natural history disease modelling and gene therapies

Thesis abstract:
Gene therapy is becoming an increasingly utilised modality in the treatment of inherited retinal dystrophies (IRDs). A pre-clinical pipeline requires specific DNA editing techniques and mammilian models to trial emerging therapies. The aim of this thesis will be validate a gene therapy for a common IRD. Another aspect of this HDR will be to establish whether the immune response plays a role in unmasking IRDs.
