Two scholarships are available. Their amounts are offered based on ranking against selection criteria:

  • $8,000 payable for one year
  • $4,000 payable for one year

Who's eligible

You must:

  • have completed your undergraduate coursework degree in the University of Sydney Business School
  • have been accepted into an honours program with a marketing specialisation at the University of Sydney Business School

Note: All scholarship offers are conditional upon evidence that the student meets the selection criteria. The recipient must enrol in the year of scholarship offer, this scholarship cannot be deferred.

1. Background

a. Established by an initial donation in 2002 from Canon Australia who have a strong commitment to the academic development of Australia's youth and are one of the world's most recognised brands, who are particularly interested in encouraging outstanding academic endeavour in marketing.

2. Eligibility

a. To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must apply, be accepted and subsequently enrol full-time into the Marketing Honours Program within the University of Sydney Business School.

b. The applicant must have obtained a minimum distinction average (75 and above) in their undergraduate Marketing major units of study.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit, specifically performance in undergraduate Marketing major units of study.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded by a Selection Committee consisting of the Head of the Discipline of Marketing and at least one other academic member of staff from the Discipline of Marketing.

4. Value

a. Two scholarship amounts are offered based on ranking against selection criteria.

I. $8,000 payable for one year,

II. $4,000 payable for one year,

b. The annual payment will be made in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted without the prior permission of the relevant Associate Dean, and it is not transferable to another honours program, faculty/University school or University.

d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

e. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility

a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain satisfactory academic progress to ensure successful on-time completion of their honours program.

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. withdraws from the Honours Program in the Discipline of Marketing,
III. commences part-time study without prior approval,
IV. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
V. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
VI. accepts an alternative honours scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney,
VII. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or
VIII. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.

7. Other Requirements

a. Scholarship recipients may be invited to promote the program in which they are enrolled, represent the University of Sydney at student welcome, marketing events and corporate networking events and fulfil the on-campus functions of a Business School Student Ambassador.
