Benefits

The scholarship covers full tuition fees for the normal duration of the Executive MBA program, tenable for up to 18 months of full-time study (intensive mode). This is equivalent to $65,000 per year.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • have an unconditional offer to study the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) course at the University of Sydney Business School
  • be a staff member on paid appointment at the University of Sydney
  • have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience.

Note: Students currently enrolled in the EMBA are not eligible.

1. Background

a. This Scholarship was established to provide a professional development opportunity to University of Sydney staff and to enhance the capability of the University to achieve its strategic objectives.

2. Eligibility

a. Applicants must receive an unconditional offer of admission into the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) course offered by the University of Sydney Business School to be considered.

b. Applicants must be a staff member on paid appointment of the University of Sydney and have a minimum of 10 years professional experience.

c. Current students enrolled in the University of Sydney Executive MBA are not eligible.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

I. academic merit,
II. leadership potential,
III. personal integrity,
IV. performance in the selection interview,
V. a personal statement addressing the selection criteria, and
VI. motivation to succeed in business in a socially responsible way by demonstrating a commitment to apply the learning offered in the Executive MBA degree to making a positive difference to professional life in business practice.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded by a Selection Committee consisting of the Director of the Executive MBA Program, or their nominated delegate (academic), and at least one other professional staff member from the Executive MBA Program.

4. Value

a. The Scholarship will cover 100% of the tuition fees for the duration of the recipient’s Global Executive MBA program, on the basis the student remains enrolled full-time.

b. The Scholarship does not cover the Student Services and Amenities fee (SSAF), travel costs, and the relevant in-country fees for each residential Unit of Study.

c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted, and it is not transferable to another University school, faculty or university.

d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

e. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility

a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester.

b. Recipients will only be permitted to suspend their studies due to exceptional circumstance. Requests to suspend must be approved by the Director of the Executive MBA Program.

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. leaves the employment of the University of Sydney,
II. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
III. commences part-time study without prior approval,
IV. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
V. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
VI. accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, for the same purpose as this Scholarship,
VII. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or
VIII. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
