Dr Ehsan Farahbakhsh

Dr. Ehsan Farahbakhsh is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the EarthByte Group at the School of Geosciences, University of Sydney. He holds a PhD in Mining Engineering - Mineral Exploration, and his expertise lies at the intersection of geoscience and advanced data analytics. Currently, he is involved in several projects in the scope of developing data science applications, particularly machine learning and deep learning in mineral exploration, aiming to create reliable multidimensional prospectivity models. His work extends to the advanced processing of remote sensing data, wherein he utilises his analytical skills to uncover insights for geological and environmental applications. His research has implications for developing sustainable exploration practices and monitoring environmental changes, contributing to a deeper comprehension of Earth’s resources and the impacts of human activities on natural landscapes.

His research interests are multidimensional mineral prospectivity modeling, geological remote sensing, and data science applications in mineral exploration.
