United States Federal Student Aid
The University of Sydney administers the United States Federal Student Aid Direct Loan Program to US citizens or eligible non-citizens who met the eligibility criteria.
There are four types of Direct Loans available to eligible students:
- Direct Subsidised Stafford
- Direct Unsubsidised Stafford
- Direct GradPLUS
- Direct ParentPLUS
Depending on your grade level e.g. undergraduate/graduate/ first year etc. you may be eligible to borrow the full cost of attendance each year. The cost of attendance is a calculation of tuition and associated fees plus living expenses.

Medicine
Students commencing in the Doctor of Medicine after March 1, 2019 will not be able to receive U.S. Federal Student Aid and will need to seek funding through personal means or Sallie Mae. United States Veteran Affairs Benefits
The University of Sydney accepts students who are eligible for a range of United States Veteran Affairs (VA) Education Benefits.
Recipients can study at the University of Sydney under the following benefit programs:
- Post 9/11 GI Bill
- Montgomery GI Bill
- Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program
The US Department of Veteran Affairs will determine a recipient’s eligibility. Further, recipients must enrol in a VA approved program.
