Welcome to the Molecular Ecology, Evolution, and Phylogenetics laboratory in the Biological Sciences, The University of Sydney. Led by Nate Lo and Simon Ho, the group is focused on the nexus between evolution, ecology, and genetics/molecular biology. We study evolution at a broad range of temporal scales in diverse taxa, and use a variety of computational and molecular techniques. We are located in a redeveloped laboratory on the top level of the Edgeworth David Building (A11). Click for information about joining MEEP and current Honours projects in the lab. Some media coverage of our research is shown here.
Before designing one of the animal kingdom's tallest structures, common in Australia's Top End, ancestors of these termite fortress builders rafted from Asia or South America about 10 million years ago.
Prof. Simon Ho and A/Prof. Nate Lo have been awarded Future Fellowships from the Australian Research Council.
MEEP PhD student Charles Foster has won the Postgraduate Excellence Prize from the School of Life and Environmental Sciences.
