Welcome to the Molecular Ecology, Evolution, and Phylogenetics laboratory in the School of Biological Sciences, The University of Sydney. Led by Nate Lo and Simon Ho, the group is focused on the nexus between evolution, ecology, and genetics/molecular biology. We study evolution at a broad range of temporal scales in diverse taxa, and use a variety of computational and molecular techniques. We are located in a redeveloped laboratory on the top level of the Edgeworth David Building (A11). Click for information about joining MEEP and current Honours projects in the lab. Some media coverage of our research is shown here.
Members of the MEEP lab ran a 2-day workshop on phylogenetic analysis, attended by 40 researchers from a range of institutions.
8 members of the MEEP lab attended the Genetics Society of Australasia Conference, held in Sydney.
Sebastian Duchene and Simon Ho have published a paper on viruses in Proceedings of the Royal Society of London B. This paper has important implications for understanding viral evolutionary rates and timescales.
