Dr Alison Laycock

Dr Alison Laycock is a health services researcher and evaluator focused on improving health equity for and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. She has co-developed resources that are used for supporting quality improvement in primary health care and health research in community settings.

Alison is a Research Fellow (Knowledge translation) with the Centre for Research Excellence-Strengthening Systems for Indigenous Health Care Equity (CRE-STRIDE). Her research focuses on understanding and improving the translation of evidence into practice, using collaborative and participatory quality improvement methodsto strengthen care systems and improve outcomes. She previously led research translation in the Centre for Research Excellence-Integrated quality improvement.

Alison began her health career working in public health policy and primary health care programs, with a focus on rural and remote communities. Her PhD research was the developmental evaluation of a knowledge translation project that engaged Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary health care stakeholders in using data to identify priority evidence-practice gaps and strategies for quality improvement. The study findings are relevant for scaling implementation research, involving stakeholders in data analysis and use, and informing evidence-based policy and system change for large-scale health improvement.
