Dr Caroline Reddel

Dr Caroline Reddel completed her PhD in 2009 through the University of Sydney, under the supervision of Prof Tony Weiss in the School of Molecular Bioscience. She currently works as a post-doctoral scientist in the Vascular Biology Group at ANZAC Research Institute, associated with the Cardiology and Haematology departments at Concord Hospital.

Dr Reddel's research interests include thrombosis and platelet activation in the context of various thrombotic conditions, and her expertise centres around novel global coagulation assays and detection of coagulation-relevant microparticles. Her work largely involves the use of these markers in risk stratification of clinical groups including coronary artery disease, coronary bypass, multiple myeloma and schizophrenia, as well as understanding the clinically variable effects of anticoagulant medication on global coagulation. She has also been involved in developing and employing these assays for use in hypercoagulable mouse models.
