Dr Gabrielle Pennings
ANZAC Research Institute, Concord Clinical School
Dr Pennings is currently a postdoctoral researcher, under the supervision of Prof Len Kritharides, in the Vascular Biology Group at the ANZAC Research Institute and holds an affiliate position of Research Fellow at the University of Sydney. Her main areas of interest include platelet and leukocyte biology particularly the role of platelets in cardiovascular disease. She completed her PhD under the supervision of Prof John Fletcher and Dr Heather Medbury at Westmead Hospital and received the John Loewenthal Medal for outstanding research in the Department of Surgery at the University of Sydney. Her current work is at the interface of platelets and inflammation and the impact on cardiovascular disease. She is also interested in the effect of remote ischaemic preconditioning on platelets in cardiovascular disease and the role of ageing on platelet activity.
