Associate Professor Isabelle Boisvert
Dr Isabelle Boisvert is Associate Professor in Audiology, within the discipline of Speech Pathology (Communication sciences and disorders). She is the academic lead for the Hearing, Speech and Communication Major, and the audiology lead for the on-campus SPEECH clinic. She also holds an Honorary Senior Research Fellow position with Audiology and Hearing (Linguistics) at Macquarie University.
Dr Boisvert studies information and clinical services related to hearing loss and deafness. This includes:
- the measures used to evaluate hearing and listening,
- the criteria used to recommend different types of hearing technologies,
- inconsistencies between the reported lived experience of hearing loss and deafness, the literature on auditory rehabilitation, and the clinical services available, and,
- how current digital innovation impacts traditional audiology services.
Her research builds on broader concepts such as: health services research; reliability of information, technology, & services; interdisciplinarity & pathways between clinical services, listening effort & holistic communication; behavioural training; implementation science, evidence-based practice; and health regulation.
